چکیده

Abstract Mechanical characterization of the ex vivo tricuspid valve (TV) continues to provide key insights into native function and development valvular diseases. However, experimental methods characterize TV biomechanical behavior often fail account for potential changes in tissue’s mechanical responses that may occur during experiment preparation. Therefore, we assessed anterior leaflet (ATL) via biaxial testing over course 5 h validate accuracy our fresh tissue experiments. We hypothesized ATL would remain consistent proposed time scale. found stiffness, represented by upper tangent modulus (UTM), did not significantly change either radial or circumferential directions 5-h test period. Similarly, no significant was observed strains corresponding an estimated mean systolic stress value 85 kPa. Overall UTM (±standard error (SEM)) showed samples were stiffer direction (11.3 ± 0.98 MPa) compared (2.29 0.20 across all points. Thus, results indicate outcomes studies requiring sample preparation up reliable.

Microplasmin: ex vivo characterization of its activity in porcine vitreous.

PURPOSE Microplasmin is a recombinant protein limited to the enzymatic moiety of plasmin without any of its cringle domains. Its enzymatic activity is similar to that of plasmin enzyme. The present study characterizes in a porcine eye model the vitreolytic ability of microplasmin. METHOD Freshly harvested porcine eyes were used in these trials. Eyes were injected with escalating doses of micr...

The Impact of Heat Treatment on Porcine Heart Valve Leaflets

The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of elevated temperature exposure in tissue banking on soft tissues. A secondary objective was to determine the relative ability of various assays to detect changes in soft tissues due to temperature deviations. Porcine pulmonary heart valve leaflets exposed to 37 °C were compared with those incubated at 52 and 67 °C for 10, 30 and 100 min. T...

Loratadine- Loaded Thermoresponsive Hydogel : Characterization and Ex-vivo Rabbit Cornea Permeability Studies

Poor bioavailability of ophthalmic drops is mainly due to drainage through the nasal-lacrimal duct and a very low permeability through corneal epithelium. The aim of our study was to prepare and characterize an ocular hydrogel of loratadine, as an example of a lipophilic drug, to increase drug concentration and residence time at the site of action in the eye. In this study,a 23full factorial de...
